A firecracker manufacturing facility near Virudhunagar was rocked by a sudden explosion on Saturday, claiming the lives of four workers and injuring one bystander. Local authorities suspect that mishandling of chemical components used in firecracker production may have triggered the devastating blast.
The incident occurred without warning, instantly killing the four workers at the scene. The powerful explosion also caused significant structural damage to the facility, particularly affecting rooms designated for various stages of the manufacturing process.
A senior district police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that investigators are focusing on the possibility that improper handling of volatile raw materials led to the fatal accident. The injured individual, who was in close proximity to the blast site, is currently receiving medical attention.
