A disturbing story of envy, deception, and murder surfaced from Nagpur’s Pitesure locality near Gorewada forest, where 20-year-old hotel management student Aman Dhruvanshi was found brutally killed. The shocking crime took place on Saturday night and came to light the following day.
The main accused, Lucky Mendwar, employed as a housekeeper, allegedly stabbed Aman to death after suspecting him of being romantically involved with his estranged girlfriend. Unable to accept the breakup, Mendwar falsely believed that Aman, who was a classmate of the girl and visiting Nagpur from Shimla for vacation, had come between them.
In a calculated move, Mendwar created a fake Instagram profile using his ex-girlfriend’s identity and began chatting with Aman. Posing as the girl, he lured Aman to a secluded area in the Gorewada forest under the pretext of a late-night meeting.
When Aman arrived, Mendwar and a minor accomplice abducted him. Two others, Sulabh Thakur and Abhishek Katariya, guided them deeper into the forest. There, Mendwar allegedly stabbed Aman multiple times, leading to his death. The group then fled, leaving the body behind.
The truth came out when Katariya, apparently overwhelmed with guilt, tipped off a constable from Mankapur police station early Sunday. Coincidentally, Aman’s family had just reached the station to report him missing. The police soon recovered the body and arrested all four suspects, including the minor who reportedly has a prior record.
This tragic incident has shaken the city and sparked serious concerns over social media misuse and emotionally-driven violence among youth.
