New Delhi: The hearing of the criminal complaint filed against actor-turned-politician and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Hassan, was adjourned by a Delhi special court till December 5.
The complainant’s statement will likely be recorded in the next hearing by Metropolitan Magistrate Sumeet Anand.
It can be recalled that Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta had filed a complaint against Hassan for calling Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin, Nathuram Godse “independent India’s first terrorist”. He had made the comment when campaigning for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu. He had allegedly said, “I am not saying this because many Muslims are here. I am saying this in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue. The first terrorist in independent India is a Hindu, his name is Nathuram Godse.”
Gupta had claimed that Hassan’s comments promoted enmity between religions, specifically the Hindus and Muslims, and hurt his religious sentiments.
