New Delhi: Passengers carrying valid train tickets will not be stopped at railway stations in Delhi amid heightened security arrangements for the October 10 protest, a Delhi Police officer said on Friday.

The officer said police would take action only against individuals attempting to disrupt law and order. The arrangements are intended to prevent untoward incidents and ensure the smooth movement of passengers amid the prevailing situation in the national capital.

More than 10 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and over 400 Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel, including women personnel, will be deployed at different railway stations, the officer said.

Security tightened at major railway stations

The New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations will remain under strict surveillance, according to the officer.

The additional deployment is part of efforts to maintain security at key railway hubs as authorities prepare for the protest. Police personnel will monitor the situation and respond to any activity that threatens public order.

Despite the heightened security, the officer clarified that passengers with valid tickets would be allowed to travel. The arrangements are not intended to prevent legitimate passengers from accessing railway services.

The deployment of CAPF companies and GRP personnel is expected to support security checks and help manage passenger movement at stations.

Police monitor social media for potential disruptions

Delhi Police are also monitoring social media platforms to identify potential law-and-order concerns, the officer said.

Online activity is being tracked as part of efforts to assess possible threats and respond to developments that could affect public safety.

Authorities have said the security measures are aimed at preventing any untoward incident and ensuring that railway operations and passenger movement continue smoothly.

Passengers advised to carry valid tickets

The police statement makes clear that valid-ticket holders will not be stopped merely because security has been heightened ahead of the October 10 protest.

However, action will be taken against anyone attempting to breach law and order, the officer said.

With additional personnel deployed and surveillance intensified at major railway stations, Delhi Police are seeking to balance security preparations with the need to keep passenger services accessible.

The situation will continue to be monitored as authorities work to maintain public order and minimise disruption to railway travel.
