An Air India flight bound for San Francisco from Delhi was redirected to Krasnoyarsk international airport in Russia on Thursday due to a technical issue, the airline announced.
In a statement on X, Air India confirmed the safe landing of the aircraft after diversion and stated that it is coordinating with authorities to ensure the well-being of passengers.
The exact number of passengers onboard was not immediately disclosed.
“Air India flight AI-183, traveling from Delhi to San Francisco, was diverted to Krasnoyarsk international airport (UNKL) in Russia due to a technical issue,” Air India stated in the announcement.
“We are in contact with relevant authorities to ensure that our guests are well cared for as we determine the next steps,” the airline added.
Emphasizing its commitment to customer and crew safety and welfare, Air India reiterated that these remain its primary concerns.
