A 19-year-old student from Manipur studying at Delhi University has accused local police of mishandling her harassment complaint against a cab driver, claiming he held her hostage with intent to assault her. After managing to escape, she alleges that her complaint was met with leniency, allowing the driver an easy path to bail.

The incident occurred on October 5 while she was traveling to ISBT from her rented accommodation near Delhi University. She reported that the driver deviated from the expected route, made her uncomfortable with personal questions, and ultimately threatened her with a blade when she resisted.

Despite filing a First Information Report (FIR) at Model Town Police Station, the charges brought against the driver, Vinod, were described as minor. The police reportedly made her wait for seven hours before taking action, which she found shocking and indicative of indifference.

In her complaint to the special commissioner, she expressed concerns about her safety, stating that the driver knew her residential area. The FIR was registered under sections related to wrongful confinement and criminal intimidation, but she is calling for further action and investigation from the cab aggregator involved.
