A Delhi street vendor’s latest food experiment — “fruit momos” — has triggered bewilderment, shock, and a wave of memes across social media. The dish, an unusual mix of fresh fruit, cheese, cream, spices, and momos, was captured in a viral video that left viewers questioning the state of human taste buds.
The clip begins with a food vlogger spotting the vendor chopping oranges, apples, and bananas at a momo stall. When asked why fruit was being prepped in a place known for steaming dumplings, the vendor confidently responds: “This isn’t the old momos… this is the new generation momos.”
What follows has stunned the internet.
A Recipe That Defies Logic
The vendor tosses the mixed fruits into hot oil, squeezes in liquid cheese, pours water, adds chilli flakes, oregano, and salt, and finishes with a swirl of Amul cream — creating a thick, bubbling fruit-cheese gravy. Only then does he add momos, coating them fully before plating the dish, priced at ₹200.
The vlogger, visibly shaken, admits he couldn’t muster the courage to taste it, joking that anyone curious is welcome to try it “at their own risk.”
Internet Reactions: Comedy, Horror, and Despair
Social media users erupted with disbelief and humour:
- “Why don’t you add Harpic too?” wrote one user.
- “Good luck to everyone eating this — you’ll need it,” said another.
- Some joked about needing therapy after watching the video, while others declared it the “final boss of food experiments.”
Several pleaded with street vendors nationwide: “Please, leave momos alone.”
The viral creation joins a long list of bizarre food fusions, but “fruit momos” may well be the most divisive yet.
