Delhi : India is commemorating its 75th Republic Day with great fervor, marking the historic adoption of the Constitution on this day in 1950. The annual Republic Day parade, held at Kartavya Path in New Delhi, is taking on a distinctly women-centric theme this year, highlighting ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat-Loktantra ki Matruka’ as its central motifs.
A notable inclusion is the participation of an all-women tri-services contingent for the first time, featuring women troops from the Indian Army‘s military police, alongside counterparts from other two services.
French President Emmanuel Macron graces the occasion as the chief guest, with a contingent from France, inclusive of members of Indian and Nepali origin, participating in the parade. Adding to the international flavor, a French refueling aircraft and two Rafale jets from France are set to join the spectacle.
Here’s a glimpse of the major highlights slated for the Republic Day parade 2024:
Motorcycle Display: The valor and determination of women personnel from CRPF, BSF, and SSB will be on full display as they showcase daredevil stunts during the motorcycle display. Over 260 women will astound spectators with formations such as Chandrayaan, Sarvatra Suraksha, Abhivadan, and Yog Se Siddhi.
Indian Air Force’s Fly-past: A total of 46 aircraft will participate in the Indian Air Force’s fly-past, including 29 fighter jets, seven transport aircraft, nine helicopters, and one heritage plane. Notably, the indigenous Tejas fighter jet will feature in a formation of four aircraft, marking its debut in the parade.
Band Performance: Titled ‘Aavaahan’, a mesmerizing band performance will feature over 100 women artists showcasing their prowess with various percussion instruments.
Tableaux Display: A total of 16 tableaux representing states and Union territories, along with nine from central ministries and departments, will grace the Republic Day parade 2024. Participating regions include Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Ladakh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Telangana.
