New Delhi: Congress ministers, MPs, MLAs and the CM have come forward in an open protest against the injustice in the state which takes the form of devolution of taxes and other grant-in aid.

This happened at the recent Jantar Mantar which took place in New Delhi. The gathering was at 10.30, with people holding slogans, banners and placards while songs were heard from the loudspeakers.

Chief Minister Siddharamaiaha then addressed the gathering from 12 in the afternoon to 1.00. He stated how he feels that this is a sign of clear discrimination against Karnataka where the state receives only Rs 13 in return for the Rs 100 that it sends to the center.

He also stated how our state has been contributing an amount that exceeds 4.30 lakh crore as tax, giving it the second place as far as tax in the country is concerned.

It has also lost over 62000 crores in the recent shift from the 14th to the 15th finance commission, all of which has put the state in a state of agitation.

It is in view of this that protesters began to demand that the government make up for the loss. The CM also made a mention of the many letters he wrote to the center, demanding justice to the state, all of which were met with lack of participation.

The CM had even taken the step of meeting the PM and union home minister, to no avail. However, he now expresses his satisfaction at the protest, believing that it will bear fruit and that the state would soon get justice, as he has now presented facts showing the loss faced by Karnataka.
