New Delhi: The Delhi Home Minister, Kailash Gahlot, who is also the minister for transport and law, has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate for questioning in connection with an alleged money laundering case linked to an alleged liquor policy case.
The Aam Aadmi Party leader was called for questioning just days after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested in the case. Sources said that the Delhi Home Minister has been asked to appear for questioning and record his statement under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The case stems from an initial prosecution complaint filed by the Enforcement Directorate in November 2021, alleging that the excise policy was intentionally crafted with loopholes, enabling the surreptitious formation of cartels to favor AAP leaders. Furthermore, the agency has accused AAP leaders of receiving kickbacks from a group referred to as the “South Group.”
