New Delhi: Private schools in Delhi have recently unveiled the initial merit list for nursery, kindergarten (KG), and class 1 admissions for the academic year 2024-25. Approximately 1,800 private schools in the national capital have released this list.

A distinct roster is anticipated for students falling under economically weaker sections (EWS) and disadvantaged groups (DG), along with children with disabilities, as there exists a 25% reservation of seats for these categories.

Approximately 200 schools have already disclosed their final merit lists and have opted not to release a second list or a waiting list. RC Jain, the president of Delhi State Public School’s Management Association, mentioned that many top schools in Delhi typically refrain from issuing a second list, and this practice is followed by around 200 such schools.

Following the merit list announcement, schools will entertain inquiries from parents from January 13 to January 22. The Directorate of Education (DoE) has clarified that purchasing a prospectus is not obligatory alongside the admission form, and only ₹25 can be charged as a registration fee from parents.

Officials have outlined that in instances where two or more students have similar scores, schools will conduct a draw of lots to finalize the list. The deadline for completing the admissions process is March 8.

Several school principals, as reported by PTI, stated that a significant portion of applications came from children of alumni or siblings of current students.
