Delhi Tops Uber’s Lost and Found Index, Revealing India’s Forgetful Trends

In the recently unveiled Lost and Found Index report by cab aggregator Uber, Delhi clinched the title of the most forgetful city in India. Mumbai secured its position as the second most forgetful city, while Bengaluru reclaimed its third spot from Hyderabad, which slipped to fourth as residents became more vigilant about their belongings. The report, supported by insights and data, aims to enlighten riders about in-app options available to them in case they misplace or forget something during their trip.

Key Insights from the Lost and Found Index India 2023:

  1. Forgetful Days and Times:
    • Saturdays witness the highest incidents of forgetfulness.
    • Evenings, particularly around 7 PM, emerge as the peak time for forgetting items.
  2. Color and Brand Trends:
    • Blue items are most commonly forgotten, followed by red and pink.
    • Riders with Apple devices exhibit the highest forgetfulness.
  3. Occasions and Seasons:
    • Festive days around Diwali witness a surge in forgetful incidents.
  4. Top Forgotten Items:
    • Phones, laptop bags, and clothing top the list of commonly forgotten items.
    • Utility items like keys, headphones, and wallets also feature prominently.
    • Unique items left behind include a Ukulele instrument, coin collection, and gate valve.

City Rankings:

  • Delhi ranks first, followed by Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune among the most forgetful cities.

Forgetful Days and Times:

  • November 10, 9, and 11 are identified as the top three most forgetful days of the year.
  • Saturdays, Fridays, and Sundays emerge as the top three most forgetful days of the week.

Unique Insights:

  • Evenings at 7 PM, 8 PM, and 6 PM are identified as the most forgetful times of the day for Indians.

Color and Brand Preferences:

  • Blue items dominate the list of forgotten belongings.
  • Apple, Samsung, and Redmi are the top three phone brands left behind in cabs.

The Lost and Found Index not only sheds light on forgetful trends but also underscores the importance of leveraging technology to mitigate such incidents and ensure a seamless travel experience for riders.
