Free Breast Cancer Screening and Awareness Camp Held at Delhi Hospital

In an effort to combat breast cancer, a free screening and awareness camp was organized by Centre-rum Safdarjung Hospital in collaboration with an NGO. The event, held on Monday, aimed to empower women with knowledge about breast cancer and provide accessible screening facilities.

Roli Singh, additional secretary of the Union Health Ministry, emphasized the significance of addressing breast cancer as a public health concern in India. She highlighted the importance of early detection through initiatives like the camp, which aim to provide women with knowledge and accessible screening facilities.

Dr. Manish Choudhary, General Secretary of the NGO Respect India, expressed the organization’s commitment to supporting women’s health and well-being. The collaboration with VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital underscores their shared dedication to raising awareness and providing free screening facilities.

Leadership and Objectives of the Camp

Organized under the leadership of Dr. Vandana Talwar, medical superintendent of VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, the camp aimed to raise awareness about breast cancer and provide free screening facilities for early detection. Dr. Talwar emphasized the importance of early detection through regular screening to save lives.

Efforts of Respect India

Respect India, a dedicated NGO in the battle against breast cancer, has been working to raise awareness, provide support, and promote regular screening. The camp offered clinical breast examinations at no cost, along with educational resources and counseling services to empower women with knowledge and support.

Community Response

About 200 women from Delhi and neighboring areas availed themselves of the free screening services at the camp, demonstrating the community’s response to prioritizing their health. The camp was open to all women without prior registration, providing an opportunity for early detection and intervention.
