Parliament Security Breach: Updates on the Incident and the Perpetrators
Alleged Involvement of Six Individuals
On the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack, a shocking security breach occurred in the Lok Sabha. Six individuals are alleged to be involved in this incident, with two men jumping into the Lok Sabha chambers from the visitors’ gallery.
Identification of Accused
The accused have been identified as Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D, apprehended inside the Lok Sabha chamber, while Amol Shinde and Neelam Azad were arrested outside the Parliament building for sloganeering and spraying yellowish powder. All six were reportedly acquainted with each other, sharing commonalities and residing together in Gurugram before the attack.
Background and Connection
The group members, known to each other for four years, had conducted a reconnaissance of Parliament before the breach. Police officials revealed that they had been in contact for years and shared a house in Gurugram.
Individual Profiles and Motivations
Manoranjan, a student leader from Bengaluru, holds a BE computer degree. Neelam, a student from Haryana, is highly qualified with BEd, MA, MPhil, and NET degrees but is unemployed. She is known for her participation in social causes, inspired by the ideologies of BR Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh. Amol hails from Maharashtra, while Sagar’s background remains undisclosed.
Connection Through Social Media
Investigations are underway to determine if the group connected through social media, as preliminary probes suggest. The police noted their shared admiration for freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, indicating a possible connection through a “Bhagat Singh fan club.”
Protest and Ideological Inspiration
The accused stated they had no other way to protest and were common citizens of the country. Neelam’s family mentioned her inspiration from Bhagat Singh and Ambedkar. The group’s choice of yellow as a protest color led to speculation about Bhagat Singh’s influence, as Kesri, a shade of yellow, was believed to be his favorite color.
Political Affiliation Claims
Amit Malviya, BJP IT cell chief, alleged that Neelam is an active supporter of Congress and the I.N.D.I alliance. However, this claim is yet to be independently verified.
Investigation and Future Inquiries
Joint interrogations are ongoing, and authorities are probing whether the group had been planning the breach for months. Digital devices are being examined to unravel the connections between individuals from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Kolkata, and Haryana. The group’s choice of yellow as a symbolic color is also being explored for its significance in Bhagat Singh’s history.
