New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu extended warm greetings to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today, offering her sweets before the Minister’s entrance to Parliament to deliver the Interim Budget for 2024.
The Rashtrapati Bhavan shared visuals on social media platform X, capturing the moment as President Murmu graciously served a spoonful of sweets to Ms. Sitharaman, expressing her best wishes for the upcoming budget presentation.
In a statement posted on X, the Rashtrapati Bhavan announced, “Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, accompanied by Ministers of State Dr. Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad and Shri Pankaj Chaudhary, along with senior officials of the Ministry of Finance, paid a courtesy visit to President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan prior to presenting the Union Budget. President Murmu extended her heartfelt best wishes to the Union Finance Minister.”

This marks Ms. Sitharaman’s sixth consecutive budget presentation, matching the record set by former Prime Minister Morarji Desai. During his tenure as Finance Minister, Desai presented five annual budgets and one interim budget between 1959 and 1964.
