New Delhi: According to his declaration submitted for the Lok Sabha election nomination in Kerala’s Wayanad, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi possesses assets valued at ₹20 crore, yet he does not own any vehicle or residential property. His movable assets amount to approximately ₹9.24 crore, which include ₹55,000 in cash, ₹26.25 lakh in bank deposits, ₹4.33 crore in bonds and shares, ₹3.81 crore in mutual funds, and jewellery valued at ₹15.21 lakh along with gold bonds worth ₹4.20 lakh.
In terms of immovable assets, Mr. Gandhi holds assets valued at ₹11.15 crore. This comprises co-owned agricultural land in Delhi’s Mehrauli, shared with his sister and fellow Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and office space in Gurugram, presently valued at over ₹9 crore. While the agricultural land is stated as inherited, there is no mention of the origin of the office space.
Moreover, Mr. Gandhi has disclosed legal matters in his affidavit, which includes a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) for purportedly revealing the identity of family members of a rape victim in a social media post. As per the directives of the Delhi High Court, the FIR related to this case remains sealed, and Mr. Gandhi claims lack of awareness regarding its specifics or his involvement. He has also cited defamation complaints lodged by BJP leaders and a criminal conspiracy case associated with Associated Journals Limited.
Having clinched the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in the 2019 general election, Rahul Gandhi is now gearing up for a competitive contest slated for April 26, where he faces opposition from CPI leader Annie Raja and state BJP chief K Surendran.
