Gurugram: YouTuber Dhruv Rathee has reportedly been detained by Delhi Police from his residence in Sector 56, Gurugram, ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) planned protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on October 10.
According to information provided, police personnel reached Rathee’s residence early in the morning and entered the house at around 7.48 am after his mother opened the door. Around 50 police personnel had reportedly gathered outside the residence late at night.
The circumstances surrounding the reported detention, including the reason for the police action and Rathee’s current whereabouts, have not been independently confirmed.
Rathee had travelled to participate in the CJP protest, which is demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over concerns related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The planned demonstration comes amid heightened security in Delhi and reports of police action against activists and supporters travelling to attend the protest. The CJP has accused authorities of detaining and intimidating members ahead of the gathering, while police measures have been described as efforts to maintain law and order.
Further details about the reported action at Rathee’s residence, including an official response from Delhi Police, are awaited.
