In a heartwarming incident from Bareilly, Khushboo Patani—sister of Bollywood actress Disha Patani—rescued a one-year-old girl who had been left alone in the debris of an old structure. The child, visibly injured and crying, was later reunited with her mother.
The episode unfolded in the Kotwali locality, close to where the Patani family resides. On Sunday morning, Padma Patani, Disha’s mother, heard a baby crying while cleaning. Alerted by the sound, she called her daughter Khushboo. Responding immediately, Khushboo leapt over their house wall and rushed to the source of the cries. There, amidst rubble and dust, she found the distressed child with injuries on her face.
Khushboo comforted the baby, fed her milk, and contacted her father, Jagdish Patni, a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police. He immediately informed local police. The child was taken to the district hospital, where doctors confirmed she was stable but had minor injuries.
The investigation revealed the girl had been taken from Bareilly Railway Junction earlier that day. Her mother, preparing for a journey to Bihar, briefly left her daughter with a nearby young man while visiting a shop. The man, reportedly mentally unwell and from Badaun, fled with the child and later abandoned her a kilometre away in the ruins.
The police registered a case and are actively searching for the suspect. Inspector Tarun Kumar of the GRP confirmed efforts are ongoing. The child’s mother expressed immense relief at her daughter’s safe recovery.
