Bengaluru: Utter chaos erupted on a Bengaluru-Delhi flight when a drunken passenger refused to take his seat, delaying the flight and creating tension among fellow travellers. A video of the incident, shared by Karnataka Portfolio on X, quickly went viral, drawing widespread reactions online.
The clip shows passengers buckled in and ready for takeoff when the man began arguing, shouting, and resisting crew instructions. Despite the commotion, cabin crew handled the situation calmly, eventually ensuring the flight could depart safely.
“The crew handled it so calmly (huge respect), but the chaos was unreal,” the post read. “People recording, some laughing, some annoyed, some just silently praying for takeoff. Eventually, the situation was sorted, but it’s crazy how one person can delay an entire flight full of people.”
Video shows tense moments on board
The short video captures the man refusing to follow the crew’s directions while other passengers react in a mix of disbelief, amusement, and frustration. Some are seen recording the incident, while others appear visibly concerned about the delay and safety implications.
Although the video lasts only a few minutes, it highlights the disruption caused by a single unruly passenger and the challenges faced by airline staff in maintaining order on board.
Public reactions and concerns
The viral video has prompted discussions about airport and airline protocols. Many users questioned how a visibly intoxicated passenger was allowed to board the flight.
One comment read, “Liquor is not sold on domestic terminals. If this guy came so drunk, what was CISF doing to allow him to cross security if drunk passengers are not allowed on domestic flights?”
Another added, “The crew at the door is not just there to welcome you. They are trained to deny entry to any passenger who could be a risk. He should not have been allowed to board.”
Calls for stricter measures
Several users also called for harsher consequences for the passenger. “Suggest to blacklist the passenger from air travel permanently,” one comment said.
Another user wrote, “A person has to be troubled or in a mood for trouble to create a scene like this. Hope he gets on a no-fly list for a year so he can mull over his actions thoroughly.”
Incidents like these raise concerns about passenger safety, airline protocols, and the responsibilities of both security personnel and cabin crew in handling disruptive behaviour. Authorities and airlines may need to review existing procedures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
