New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) has issued a show-cause notice to Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra over her remarks in Rajasthan related to PM Modi’s temple visit. The notice was issued under the Model Code of Conduct, which prohibits criticism of opponents by invoking their private lives. Priyanka Gandhi had alleged that an envelope of donation made by Modi at a temple contained only Rs 21.
The EC notice asks Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to respond by 5 PM on 30 October, explaining why appropriate action for violation of the Model Code of Conduct should not be taken against her. The claim about PM Modi’s ‘envelope’ has been proven false, as visuals from his temple visit show that he didn’t use any envelope while donating money.
