Election Commission Imposes Ban on Exit Polls for Lok Sabha Elections 2024

New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) has announced a ban on conducting, publishing, or publicizing exit polls related to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 and Assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim.

The prohibition period will begin at 7 am on April 19 and end at 6:30 pm on June 1. This ban encompasses all forms of media, including print, electronic, or any other dissemination method.

During the 48 hours leading up to the conclusion of the polling process for the general elections and Assembly polls mentioned, the display of any election-related content, including the results of opinion polls or surveys, on electronic media will be prohibited.

The Lok Sabha elections, comprising 543 seats, will be conducted in seven phases starting from April 19. Nearly 97 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes in the general election, with the counting of votes scheduled for June 4.
