Encephalitis claims lives of two more children during Union Health Minister’s visit

Bihar: Encephalitis, a life-threatening disease has till date claimed lives of 83 children and on Sunday, the ogress claimed two more lives that too during the Union Health Minister’s visit.

A five-year-old girl named Nisha, a resident of Rajapur village of Muzaffarpur breathed her last, when Union Health Minister Dr Harshvardhan visited the Sri Krishna Medical College Hospital (SKMCH) to assess the situation.

At the point in time when he along with the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Choubey were taking stock of every ward where children suffering from Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and hypoglycemia were availing treatment, Nisha breathed her last.

As a shocker, a few minutes later a seven-year-old girl named Muni Kumari, as resident of Runipur also died.

In agony Nisha’s mother said that her child wanted to go to school and never wanted to die. On the other hand Muni Kumari’s parents were blaming the minister’s for not visiting and taking necessary action on time.

By the death of Nisha and Muni Kumari, the death toll now has rose to 85.
