Kollam (Kerala): A huge explosion rocked the court complex at Kollam on Wednesday, injuring one person.
A suspected country-made ‘steel bomb’ kept under an unused jeep exploded at the collectorate-cum-district courts complex injuring a 61-year-old-man.
The injured has been identified as Sabu. He was standing near the he jeep belonging to the State Labour Department when the explosion occurred, police said.
“I rushed out of my office after hearing the noise and saw smoke and fire at the court complex and a vehicle on fire,” a woman said.
The police suspect that gun powder was used to trigger the explosion. They recovered 17 batteries and electric fuse and feel a timer was used.
A flying object hit a man on his face after the explosion but his injury was not serious, police sources said.
Bomb squad and other forensic officials inspected the site after the blast.
