In Lucknow, police have registered a case against a man accused of impersonating an IAS officer and issuing life threats to a law student after she declined his marriage proposal. The accused, identified as Deepak Kumar, was charged based on a complaint filed by the victim’s mother on November 30 at Chinhat police station.

The victim stated that Kumar initially contacted her via WhatsApp in 2020, claiming to be from East Champaran, Bihar. Presenting himself as a trainee IAS officer, he shared Aadhaar details and a fabricated educational background, including a BTech from Haryana. Investigations later revealed that he worked at a private company in Delhi specializing in IT services, as reported by PTI.

Kumar allegedly manipulated mobile devices of several women, coercing them into marriage. The complaint highlighted that he had deceived two to three other women and was already under legal scrutiny for similar offenses. The victim, however, denied any personal acquaintance or prior discussions about marriage.

Accusations include sending abusive messages to the woman’s family to force compliance. Kumar reportedly threatened to harm the student with acid or fire if she rejected his advances.

Authorities booked Kumar under provisions of the Bhartiya Nayaya Sanhita, addressing criminal intimidation, insulting acts, and cybercrimes. His arrest is pending as investigations continue.
