Three members of a family residing in Amberpet allegedly died by suicide on Tuesday, leaving behind a note stating that financial distress had forced them to take the extreme step, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Ram Raj (55), his wife Madhavi (50), and their son Shashank (24). Ram Raj reportedly operated a hotel in Amberpet and a biryani outlet in Mallepaly.
WhatsApp message alerted friend
According to police, Ram Raj had sent a WhatsApp message to his friend Ravi around 3 am, indicating their intention to end their lives. When Ravi reached their residence at approximately 8.30 am, he found the three unresponsive and alerted the authorities.
Police officials stated that the mother was found suffocated, while the father and son were discovered hanging. It was also reported that Shashank had slit his wrists before hanging himself.
Case registered, probe underway
The bodies were shifted to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
Amberpet police have registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Further investigation is underway to verify the contents of the suicide note and examine the family’s financial situation.
