Farmers Protest Disrupts Traffic, Noida Authorities Issue Advisory
On Monday, authorities in Noida issued a traffic advisory, alerting the public about the potential disruptions caused by a farmers’ protest march heading towards Delhi. The protest, organized by various c groups, is demanding compensation and the implementation of agricultural reforms. To maintain order, Delhi and Gautam Buddha Nagar police have installed barricades at border points connecting Noida to Delhi. Security measures have been heightened as authorities anticipate heavy traffic in the region. To ease the burden on roadways, commuters are advised to opt for metro services, minimizing delays and congestion. Additionally, all commercial vehicles traveling from the Yamuna Expressway to Delhi via the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, and those from Sirsa to Surajpur via Parichowk, are prohibited. Noida police have intensified checks at all entry points into Delhi.
The protest began on November 28 when thousands of farmers shifted their demonstration from Greater Noida to the office of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), demanding the allocation of developed plots for farmers displaced by land acquisition. If their demands for new legal benefits and the implementation of farmer welfare recommendations aren’t met, the groups plan further action. The farmers’ march, set to commence on Monday afternoon, is expected to affect the already congested roads.
With heightened security and traffic diversions in place, authorities urge the public to plan accordingly and avoid unnecessary delays.
