In a chilling case of domestic violence, a 28-year-old nurse was murdered by her father at their home in Omanapuzha on Tuesday night. The victim, Angel Jasmine, was employed at Providence Hospital, Thumboli, and had been living with her parents after separating from her husband of three years.

Her father, Francis alias Josemon (53), reportedly strangled her following a heated incident at home. According to the Mannanchery police, Angel had frequent altercations with her family, and on the night of the incident, she allegedly physically assaulted her elderly grandfather, which enraged her father upon his return from work.

“She was found unresponsive on her bed the next morning. The police noticed suspicious marks on her neck, prompting deeper inquiry,” said PP Sangheetha, a local panchayat member. The case, initially filed under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (for unnatural death), was escalated after an inquest by the Revenue Divisional Officer raised concerns.

Following intense questioning, Josemon confessed to the murder and arrived at the police station with relatives to surrender. He works as an autorickshaw driver and a security guard at a private bank.

Jasmine’s body has been sent for post-mortem at Vandanam Government Medical College Hospital. Police have taken Josemon into custody, and further investigation is underway. Charges are expected to be updated based on the findings.
