Kasaragod: A devastating fire broke out at a tiled house in Thalangara area of Kasaragod town on Saturday night, suspected to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit.

The blaze caused extensive damage, with the homeowner, Sara, reportedly losing belongings worth around ₹50 lakh. Valuables, household items, and parts of the structure were reduced to ashes before help could arrive.

Although local residents promptly alerted the fire brigade, their efforts were hampered by poor access — as no road led directly to the house, the fire tender was significantly delayed.

By the time fire personnel reached the spot, the flames had already engulfed a major portion of the residence. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The incident has highlighted critical infrastructure gaps in the area, with locals now demanding proper road connectivity for emergency services.
