Tensions soared in Muzaffarnagar district’s Saidpur village after a disagreement over firecrackers at a wedding ceremony spiraled into a violent confrontation between two groups on Thursday. At least seven people sustained injuries in the clash, which occurred under the jurisdiction of the Titawi police station. Authorities have filed a case against more than 15 individuals and detained several suspects for questioning.

Superintendent of Police (Rural), Aditya Bansal, confirmed that the situation was brought under control promptly by the police. “A case has been filed against over 15 people, and several individuals have been detained for further investigation,” he said.

What Sparked the Conflict?

The confrontation reportedly began when firecrackers were ignited during Vikas Kashyap’s wedding, igniting tension with the local community. According to SP Bansal, sparks from the fireworks caught onto nearby wooden structures, which led to a heated argument. The situation escalated when some members of the local community allegedly attacked the wedding party.

In response, additional police personnel were stationed in Saidpur village to prevent further violence. Authorities have assured that they are keeping a close eye on the situation and continue to investigate to hold those responsible for the clash accountable.
