A tragic accident claimed the life of a five-year-old girl after she allegedly got trapped inside a lift at a women’s hostel in Gowlidoddi on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Bistu Ghosh, a native of Jharkhand, who had been staying with her grandparents working as cooks in the area for the past seven years.
Child reportedly got trapped in grilled lift
According to Gachibowli Police, officials received a Dial 100 emergency call on Wednesday afternoon informing them that a child had become trapped inside a grilled lift at Mahi Women PG in Gowlidoddi.
Police said the lift had reportedly travelled from the first floor to the fifth floor before descending again, during which the child became trapped.
She was later found on the third floor.
Clothes may have got stuck in lift grill
Preliminary investigation suggests that the child had entered the lift as part of her routine movements around the building.
Police suspect that her clothes may have become stuck in the grill of the lift, leading to severe injuries to the back of her head.
Officials said the injuries caused heavy bleeding and resulted in her death on the spot.
The body was later shifted for postmortem examination.
Investigation underway
Gachibowli police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
