Dense fog across north India continued to disrupt air and rail travel on Thursday, forcing several flights and trains to be cancelled or diverted due to poor visibility. Among the affected services was an IndiGo flight scheduled to land in Amritsar, which was diverted to Delhi after weather conditions made a safe landing impossible.

While the diversion caused delays, a light-hearted exchange inside the aircraft lifted spirits and quickly went viral on social media.

Punjabi banter eases delay

A video shared on Instagram by user Baldeep Singh (@food_mehkma) captured a flight attendant calmly addressing passengers in Punjabi after the aircraft landed back in Delhi. Speaking with humour, she joked about missing out on Amritsari kulche because of the diversion, quipping, “Mainu taan kulche khane si, tussi chole bhature di gallan kar rahe ho?” — drawing laughter from passengers.

She also jokingly said she wanted to go home, prompting smiles and applause from those seated nearby. When a passenger asked if she was from Amritsar, she replied affirmatively and mentioned her locality, sparking cheerful reactions from children on board who said they were from the same area.

The exchange ended with claps from fellow travellers, reflecting a noticeably relaxed mood despite the delay.

Passengers praise cabin crew

Sharing the video, Baldeep Singh wrote that the IndiGo staff and cabin crew were “extremely kind and cooperative” and handled the situation calmly. He clarified that the clip was recorded at Delhi airport after the flight returned from its attempted landing in Amritsar.

Social media users responded warmly, praising the flight attendant’s composure and humour. Comments described the interaction as “good vibes” and applauded the crew for managing passenger patience during weather-related disruptions.

Fog continues to challenge travel

Weather officials said dense fog conditions are likely to persist across parts of north India during early morning and late-night hours, continuing to impact visibility and travel schedules. Airlines have advised passengers to check flight status before heading to airports.

While fog-induced delays remain frustrating, the viral moment highlighted how empathy and humour can ease tension during travel disruptions.
