Food Safety Department Takes Swift Action to Ensure Safe Holi Sweets and Snacks
Ahead of Holi, the Food Safety Department has initiated rigorous checks to guarantee the safety and quality of food products in the city. On Wednesday, multiple samples were collected from various shops and sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal for detailed analysis. The district’s food safety efforts are led by District Collector Asheesh Singh, with oversight from Additional Collector Gaurav Benal.
Three dedicated teams of food safety officers were assigned to monitor the quality of food items, targeting key sweets and snacks that are in high demand during the festival. The samples collected included Mawa Peda, Milk Cake, Ratlami Sev, Besan, and various other local delicacies from popular stores such as Shrinath Sweets, Shreeji Namkeen, and Shri Krishna Dudh Dahi Bhandar, among others.
In addition to sample collection, the Food Safety Administration organized an awareness program in Betma. This initiative, in partnership with “Food Safety on Wheels,” a mobile food testing lab, aimed to educate both the public and food business operators on how to identify adulteration in food products. Attendees were also encouraged to use fortified ingredients in their food preparations.
As part of their proactive approach, a licensing registration camp was held for food business operators to ensure compliance with food safety standards. In Betma, around 25 samples were taken and tested on-site, with the results promptly shared with vendors to ensure transparency and immediate corrective action when necessary.
These combined efforts reflect the administration’s commitment to ensuring that consumers can enjoy safe and high-quality food during Holi celebrations.
