On November 26, 2024, Hyderabad’s Food Safety Task Force conducted inspections at several food establishments in the Lakdikapul area, uncovering severe hygiene and safety violations.
At Khan-E-Khas, officials found that the restaurant was operating without a valid FSSAI license. Several key documents, including Pest Control Records, Medical Fitness Certificates, and Water Analysis Reports, were missing. The inspection also revealed leftover food from the previous day, which was immediately discarded. In the kitchen, the team observed poor practices such as improper storage of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items together in the fridge, patchy flooring with broken tiles, water stagnation, and signs of a potential rat infestation, including rat feces on storage shelves. The officials flagged the kitchen’s layout, citing inadequate space for proper cleaning.
At Shahi Dastarkhwan, the task force found a live cockroach infestation in the kitchen, with stagnant drain water due to food waste accumulation. The restaurant also had greasy walls, cracked flooring, and lacked insect-proof screens. Several expired food items were discovered and removed, including Mango Masala, Coconut Milk, and Keora water.
The team also visited Bademiyan Kababs, where officials found several non-compliances. The food license was not displayed, and the necessary documents like pest control records and medical certificates were missing. Staff were not wearing appropriate hygiene gear such as hair caps or gloves. The kitchen was exposed to the outside environment, lacked insect-proof screens, and had cobwebs. The task force also found improperly labeled food and suspected the use of synthetic food colors in kebabs and Chinese dishes.
These inspections are part of ongoing efforts by the Food Safety Task Force to ensure compliance with food safety standards across the city.
