Bengaluru: The Forest Department has reportedly destroyed more than 5000 saplings by dumping them on a open land near Ainahalli of Chitradurga District.

The saplings were thrown two days ago and this incident came to light on Wednesday, October 17.

Plants like Neem, Jackfruit were sent by the government to the forest department to be distributed to the residents of that area last year but it was not done, despite sending a fresh set of saplings this year. In order to cover this up, the Forest Department disposed the previous year’s plants, said sources.

The locals have alleged that the forest department officials have destroyed these plants which testified to their irresponsibility.
