New Delhi: Former Supreme Court justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar officially took the oath of office as the Lokpal chairperson on March 10th , with President Droupadi Murmu conducting the ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, as per official sources.
The 66-year-old retired justice, who served on the Supreme Court bench from May 13, 2016, to July 29, 2022, received the oath of office from President Murmu during an evening ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, as outlined in an official statement.
The appointment of Justice (retired) Khanwilkar to the position of Lokpal chairperson occurred last month, filling the vacancy left open for nearly two years following the retirement of Pinaki Chandra Ghose on May 27, 2022.
