Authorities in Odisha’s Jajpur district have detained four hockey trainers following serious allegations made by a 15-year-old trainee at a local coaching centre. The girl, who had been receiving training at the facility for the past two years, filed a police complaint on Sunday night, prompting swift action from law enforcement.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the alleged incident occurred on July 3 after a training session at a nearby stadium. The minor reported misconduct by the trainers and stated that she had been threatened with consequences if she disclosed what had happened.
Acting on the complaint, police launched an immediate investigation, which led to the detention of the four accused, all in their 30s. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The survivor appeared in court on Monday, where her statement was recorded in accordance with legal protocol. Officials have confirmed that her identity remains protected, in line with Supreme Court guidelines on privacy in cases involving minors.
The matter remains under active investigation. Authorities have assured that the survivor will receive full support, including access to legal aid and counselling services.
