A four-year-old child tragically lost his life while waiting for medical attention at Baddi Civil Hospital. The child, suffering from a cough for two days, was taken to the hospital by his father, Bipan Kumar, around 2:45 am.
Kumar alleges that the on-duty doctor refused to examine his son, advising him to let the child rest due to sedation and return in the morning. Having given his son 5 ml of cough syrup before arrival, Kumar expected urgent care but was allegedly told to wait.
Hours later, the child became unresponsive. In desperation, Kumar took an auto-rickshaw to find a taxi. Rakesh Kumar, a taxi driver, eventually rushed them to PGI Chandigarh, but doctors declared the child dead on arrival.
Demanding accountability, Kumar has accused the hospital of negligence. Meanwhile, hospital authorities have initiated an inquiry. Senior medical officer Dr. Mahavir Chauhan denied misconduct, claiming he examined the child inside the duty room due to his own injury. However, Kumar’s version of events contradicts this statement.
