Tourists thronged the hill station of Manali on Sunday night as a fresh spell of snowfall blanketed the region, transforming the town into a winter postcard and lifting spirits across the valley.

Snowfall creates festive atmosphere

A steady fall through the night coated rooftops, roads and pine slopes in white, with visitors stepping out to soak in the scenery and enjoy winter activities. Hotels and local businesses reported heightened enthusiasm as families and groups ventured out for snow walks, photography and light snow play amid the gentle flakes.

Several tourists described the conditions as pleasant and safe, noting that the snowfall added to the experience without causing disruption. Many encouraged others to visit, saying the town felt lively and welcoming, with temperatures dipping but the atmosphere remaining cheerful.

IMD forecasts more snow ahead

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the snowfall was influenced by back-to-back western disturbances. According to the department, light to moderate, scattered to fairly widespread snowfall and rainfall are likely across the Western Himalayan region from February 1 to 3.

IMD officials added that a third western disturbance is expected to impact the region between February 5 and 7, which could bring another round of snowfall to higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh, including Manali and surrounding areas.

Advisory in place

While the snowfall has delighted tourists, authorities have advised travellers to remain cautious. The IMD has warned of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in parts of Himachal Pradesh during the ongoing weather spell. Visitors have been urged to follow local advisories, avoid late-night travel on slippery roads and keep track of updates.

With fresh snow rejuvenating the landscape and more winter weather likely, Manali continues to draw visitors seeking a classic Himalayan winter — white vistas, crisp air and a festive mountain mood.
