At the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, the world’s largest religious festival, visitors can encounter individuals from all walks of life. Millions of devotees gather at the festival to bathe in the Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati rivers.

Among the many fascinating aspects of the Mahakumbh are the Babas (ascetics), including the revered Naga Babas and Aghori Sadhus, as well as respected spiritual leaders. However, what is currently captivating online attention is the presence of an ‘IITian Baba’ at the Mela.

In an interview with CNN News18, the ‘IITian Baba’, later identified as Abhay Singh, revealed that he had abandoned a career in science for spirituality. The conversation took an intriguing turn when the interviewer remarked on his articulate manner of speaking, to which Singh shared that he had studied aerospace engineering at IIT Bombay.

The revelation left the interviewer in stunned silence for a few moments. Once recovered, the interviewer asked Singh if he truly studied at IIT Bombay, to which Singh confirmed. When asked how he made the transition from a career in science to a spiritual path, Singh, with a smile, responded, “This stage is the best stage.”

This surprising twist has sparked curiosity and admiration for Singh’s unique journey from engineering to spirituality at one of the world’s most iconic religious festivals.
