The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has instructed Patanjali Foods Ltd to recall a specific batch of red chilli powder due to non-compliance with food safety standards. The batch in question, labeled as Batch No. AJD2400012, was found to be in violation of the Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, Toxins, and Residues) Regulations, 2011.

Patanjali Foods, part of the Baba Ramdev-led Patanjali Ayurved group, confirmed the recall in a regulatory filing. The company, a major player in India’s FMCG sector, is well-known for its range of products under brands like Patanjali, Ruchi Gold, and Nutrela.

This recall emphasizes the importance of strict adherence to food safety norms to ensure consumer health and maintain trust in food products. Patanjali Foods, which recently posted a 21% increase in its net profit for the September quarter, has yet to disclose further details on the impact of the recall.

The incident also underscores the growing awareness of food purity, with experts advising consumers to buy whole spices to avoid adulteration.
