A 12-year-old girl from Nagpur, Maharashtra, had a terrifying brush with death after a zipline malfunction hurled her nearly 30 feet onto jagged rocks by the Beas river in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. The incident occurred on June 8 during what was supposed to be a fun adventure ride.
The girl, identified as Trisha, suffered several bone fractures due to the fall. She was initially taken to Mission Hospital in Manali for urgent care. Given the extent of her injuries, she was later shifted to a more advanced medical facility for specialized treatment.
Trisha’s father, Prafull Bijwe, speaking to The Times of India, confirmed her discharge from the hospital on Saturday night. “She is out of danger now and recovering steadily,” he said. Her condition has stabilized, offering a moment of relief for the family after days of uncertainty and distress.
The zipline ride, which is a popular tourist activity in the area, became a near-fatal experience due to the sudden failure of the supporting cable mid-ride. The shocking accident raises serious questions about the safety protocols and regular maintenance of adventure sports setups in tourist zones.
Following the mishap, the family of the girl and the operators of the zipline reached an amicable settlement. As a result, the local police did not register a case. Manali’s Deputy Superintendent of Police confirmed that no legal action was initiated due to the mutual agreement.
