With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting soaring temperatures this summer, Drishti Marine has issued a warning to beachgoers and swimmers in Goa. The advisory aims to raise awareness about the risks of sunburns and heat strokes, especially with the expected influx of tourists along the shoreline.

Advisory Details:

Drishti Marine, along with its 450-strong lifesaving force, has been instructed to closely monitor beach activities and watch out for heat-related incidents. Navin Awasthi, CEO of Drishti Marine, emphasized the importance of staying hydrated and avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours (noon to 3pm) to prevent skin rashes, sunburns, and heat strokes. Beachgoers have been encouraged to carry essentials such as beach umbrellas, sunscreen, caps, and plenty of water for protection.

Collaboration with State Authorities:

The state-appointed lifeguard agency has also issued a summer advisory to ensure the safety of holidaymakers enjoying Goa’s beaches during the hot weather. This collaborative effort between Drishti and state authorities aims to provide necessary precautions and assistance to tourists, particularly domestic travelers, visiting Goa with their families for the annual summer break.

Precautions and Safety Measures:

In light of the expected temperatures ranging from 33 to 35 degrees Celsius over the next seven days, Drishti Marine, along with other agencies, has emphasized the importance of adhering to safety guidelines. Beachgoers are advised to strictly avoid red flag areas, indicating non-swim zones, and seek assistance from lifesavers stationed at 35 towers spread across Goa in case of emergencies.

Identification of Safe Swim Zones:

To ensure beach safety, Drishti Marine lifeguards regularly monitor sea currents, wind patterns, and underwater activity to identify safe swim zones. Red and yellow flags are used to mark moderate surf and currents, guiding swimmers and children to play within designated safe areas.

Conclusion:

As Goa prepares for an influx of tourists during the summer season, Drishti Marine’s heatwave advisory underscores the importance of prioritizing beach safety and taking necessary precautions to mitigate the risks of heat-related illnesses. By collaborating with state authorities and implementing safety measures, Goa aims to provide a safe and enjoyable beach experience for visitors while ensuring their well-being in the face of rising temperatures.
