Goa: Nigerian National arrested for overstaying

Panaji: Goa Police have arrested a Nigerian national for allegedly overstaying in the coastal state.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Jivba Dalvi informed that the accused person was found staying illegally in Goa-India, without possessing valid travel documents. The accused person is identified as Innocent Chiukwu, 38, from Nigeria, police said.

According to police, he was presently staying at Assagaon in North Goa. Police have registered a case under section 7 ( 1 ) ( 3 ) ( iii ) of Foreigners Order 1948, punishable under section 14 of Foreigners Act 1946. Police said that the accused person has been remanded to 14 days Judicial custody. Police are further investigating the case.
