Panaji : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the permanent campus of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Goa on Tuesday (February 6), during his visit to the coastal state.
In the company of Goa Governor P. S. Sreedharan Pillai and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Modi will essentially launch the project.
2010 saw the opening of NIT Goa’s transit campus on the grounds of Goa Engineering College in Farmagudi, Ponda, Goa.
In 2023, the institute at Cuncolim, South Goa, began to take shape with help from the Ministry of Education.
In July 2017, the Government of Goa transferred 113 acres (456767 square meters) of land in the village of Cuncolim for its permanent campus.
The campus has a total built-up area of 70750 sqm, with construction cost of Rs 390.83 crore and can accommodate 1,260 students.
In addition to other amenities, the campus features a tutorial complex, departmental complex, seminar complex, administrative complex, staff quarters, health center, and sports field.
The campus is equipped with numerous eco-friendly features, including solar power plants, sewage treatment facilities, water-efficient sanitaryware fixtures, effective electric lighting, and solar-powered street lights. Construction has included the installation of solar panels and native plants in horticultural work that is suitable to the state’s climate.
