Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ wife Amruta has stoked a controversy by accepting a golden chain from godman Guruwanand Swami.
The news aired by a local Marathi channel shows the godman grabbing the chain out of thin air and presenting it to Amruta Fadnavis, at an event.
Quick to respond, the NCP has demanded an FIR to be lodged against Amruta under Black Magic Prevention and Prohibition of Exploiting Practices Act.
Meanwhile, the CM’s wife said she does not believed in miracles. While clarifying her stand, Amruta said, “I don’t believe in any kind of miracle and Guruwanand Swami gave me the chain as his blessing.” Amruta further said she was just seeking blessings from an elderly person.
Maharashtra Assembly in 2013 passed the Black Magic Prevention and Prohibition of Exploiting Practices Bill, that seeks to curb black magic and other superstitious practices.
