Andhra Pradesh police have solved a major jewellery theft case in Visakhapatnam, recovering stolen gold valued at ₹1.29 crore. The accused, JG Nee, a marketing executive at Krish Diamonds and Jewellery, was arrested after allegedly misusing his job privileges to divert jewellery for personal gain.
As per Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi, the ornaments were taken under the pretext of marketing and showcasing to retailers but were never returned. Following a formal complaint by the company, the Dwarka Police Station launched an investigation and eventually arrested Nee, recovering the missing jewellery.
In a separate incident from Konaseema district, a broad daylight burglary at the Sri Kshanamukteswara Swamy Temple shocked locals. This ancient shrine, believed to have been established by Lord Sri Ramachandra himself, houses a self-manifested deity and is of great spiritual importance.
Police reported that the burglar smeared sacred ash (vibhuti) on CCTV lenses to avoid identification. The intruder then broke into the sanctum sanctorum, stealing 66 grams of gold and 1 kilogram of silver items. The theft was discovered by the temple priests, who immediately alerted authorities.
A forensic team was dispatched to collect evidence, including fingerprints. Circle Inspector Bheemaraju, SI Harikoti Shastri, and Konaseema Clues Team lead Praveen Kumar are overseeing the ongoing investigation.
These twin crimes highlight the need for tightened surveillance and better security protocols in both commercial and religious spaces.
