Google’s ‘Year in Search 2024’ for Pakistan highlighted the top trends that captured the curiosity of its people. Covering categories like Cricket, People, Movies & Drama, How-To, Recipes, and Tech, the list prominently featured several Indian-related topics.

Cricket remained the most-searched category, with five key matches involving India dominating Pakistan’s searches. These included the high-stakes India-Pakistan clash at the T20 World Cup, as well as games against Australia, England, and South Africa.

People searches included Indian tycoon Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, showcasing interest in India’s business landscape.

In Movies & Drama, Indian entertainment ruled the roost. Four Bollywood blockbusters—Animal, Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and Dunki—topped searches. Popular TV shows such as Heeramandi, 12th Fail, Mirzapur Season 3, and Bigg Boss 17 were also widely searched, reflecting Pakistan’s fascination with Indian storytelling.

Interestingly, Pakistan’s searches had numerous “India connections,” while Google’s Year in Search for India featured no Pakistani-related topics. India’s searches spanned diverse interests, from IPL and Olympics to Bollywood and K-dramas. Searches also delved into indie music, quirky memes, and global travel, highlighting a broader spectrum of curiosity.

The asymmetry in cross-border digital curiosity underscores the magnetic appeal of Indian cricket, entertainment, and personalities in Pakistan.
