The investigation into the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in Greater Noida has revealed a disturbing criminal history allegedly involving multiple vulnerable victims, including children, an elderly woman and animals.

The accused, identified as 45-year-old Balraj from Bulandshahr, was arrested on August 28 in connection with the latest case, according to police. A day later, he was killed in a police encounter.

Police said Balraj allegedly targeted people who were less capable of defending themselves, with investigators linking him to earlier cases involving rape, murder and other offences.

Six-year-old girl found dead in sack

The latest case came to light after a six-year-old girl was allegedly taken to Balraj’s house in Greater Noida.

CCTV footage reportedly showed a man, identified by police as Balraj, taking the child into the house and later leaving with a sack. The girl’s body was subsequently recovered.

According to police sources cited in the report, Balraj allegedly confessed to raping and killing the child. Investigators said the girl had suffered severe injuries.

Police have alleged that the accused told them he placed the body in a sack after the killing, intending to dispose of it.

Accused had spent years in jail

Police records reportedly show that Balraj had a long criminal history dating back to the mid-2000s.

He had previously faced cases involving stabbing, culpable homicide, theft, rape and murder. He was arrested in 2017 and spent about eight years in jail before being released on bail in 2025.

Investigators have alleged that after his release, he became involved in another case involving a child.

The report also states that he faced a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Police allege victims included animals

Police sources have also alleged that Balraj had sexually assaulted animals, including goats and cattle.

According to the report, local residents were aware of such alleged incidents but did not file formal complaints because of fear.

Police have described the accused as someone who allegedly preyed on vulnerable victims, particularly children and elderly people.

Encounter follows arrest

A day after Balraj’s arrest, a UP Police team killed him in an encounter.

According to the police version, Balraj allegedly produced a concealed weapon and attempted to fire at the police while being taken into custody.

The circumstances surrounding the encounter and the allegations against the accused form part of the ongoing legal and investigative process.

Police have also arrested a man identified as Tauseef in connection with the six-year-old girl’s case. Investigators allege that Tauseef assisted Balraj. The two reportedly knew each other from their time in jail.

The case has drawn attention to the accused’s alleged history of targeting vulnerable victims and the questions surrounding how he came into contact with another child after his release from prison.
