“Please bring our daughters back to us,” pleaded the parents of Tanusha, Sai Priya, and Nandini, three young sisters who were among the 24 people killed in a tragic road accident in Tandur on Monday morning. The sisters were returning to Hyderabad after spending a few days with their parents when their bus collided with a speeding truck.

Parents’ weekend request turns into lifelong regret

The sisters’ mother, Ambika, was inconsolable at the accident site. “Oh God! Who will bring back my three children? What sin did they commit?” she wept, surrounded by grieving relatives. The family’s small home in Vadderagalli, Gandhinagar in Ranga Reddy district was filled with cries of disbelief and anguish.

The tragedy struck just days after the family had celebrated a wedding. Their eldest sister, Anusha, had been married on October 17, barely 20 days before the fatal crash.

The three younger sisters—Tanusha, pursuing an MBA; Sai Priya, in the final year of her degree; and Nandini, in her first year—were studying in Hyderabad. They had planned to return to the city on Friday, but Ambika had requested that they stay back for the weekend. That decision now haunts the grieving mother.

Missed train leads to fatal bus journey

According to family members, Yellaiah, the sisters’ father, had accompanied them to the local railway station early on Monday morning. When they missed their train, he dropped them at the bus stand to catch a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus to Hyderabad.

Within hours, devastating news reached them — the bus had collided with a truck, killing their daughters instantly.

Eyewitnesses describe a horrific crash

At least 24 passengers were killed and several others injured in the Ranga Reddy district accident, which occurred when a speeding lorry carrying a heavy load rammed into the TSRTC bus. The lorry’s gravel load fell onto the bus, crushing its front section.

Eyewitnesses said both vehicles were overloaded. The accident took place on a blind curve, where poor road conditions and the truck’s speed turned fatal. “The entire front portion of the bus was mangled,” said a local resident who helped rescue the injured.

Another family shattered

Among the victims was Akhila Reddy, an MBA student from Lakshminarayana Pur village in Yalal mandal. Her mother said she had always feared road travel. “My daughter lost her life. I used to tell her not to travel by bus. My fears came true,” she said, sobbing.

The accident has sparked widespread grief across the district, with officials rushing to the site and rescue operations continuing through the morning. Local authorities have announced compensation for the victims’ families, while an investigation is underway into the cause of the collision.

A tragedy that silenced three young dreams

Back in Vadderagalli, the three sisters—inseparable in life—lay side by side in death. Their friends and neighbours remembered them as bright, cheerful girls who shared everything and dreamed of building successful lives in the city.

For their parents, the pain remains unbearable. Ambika’s words echo the collective heartbreak of all those who lost loved ones in the crash: “They went together… and left us together.”
