Guntur: In a shocking incident, a groom has called off the wedding that was supposed to be held yesterday, i.e., Sunday, June 25 night, the reason lack of clarity on bride’s caste.
The incident has been reported from Pedakakani village.
According to the Krosur Police, the priest of Bhramarambha Malleshwara Temple asked for the ID proof before the marriage procedure in order to record it in the temples’ register. Both the groom’s and bride’s families produced their Aadhar Cards.
Bride Sharada’s father had registered his name as Pidigu Anjaneyalu. Groom Venkata Reddy and his family on observing this, raised a question if they were really from the Reddy community. The bride’s family said that they belonged to the community but had not made a point to mention it.
Meanwhile, the priests too were suspicious about their caste. These doubts later translated into a fight. The groom’s family has immediately called off the wedding ceremony despite the bride’s father clarifying that they were from the Pichikunta Reddy community and that they had a tradition of not having ‘Reddy’ as their surname.
